Garden, Nature, & Farm School
MST’s farm & garden program is a magical place where students come to learn about animal husbandry, nature, growing food and developing practical skills.
Early childhood is the ideal time to establish healthy eating habits. Our working garden creates activities that can increase children’s willingness to try new foods and help them become familiar with local foods.
Farm schooling provides hands-on agricultural and environmental learning experiences! MST offers our students the opportunity to be immersed in regenerative farming practices both through our farm animals and gardens. Children get to plant, harvest and care for animals in all different seasons. This fosters a deeper understanding of food production, sustainably, ecological processes, empathy growing and more.
There is a lot of research pointing to the positive aspects of nature-based or forest schools, including enhanced attention, self-confidence, interest in learning and physical development.
Dr. Montessori's vision for schools was always a combination of indoor and outdoor classrooms to demonstrate the interconnectedness of all things. Children are able to study math and science, nature and the universe.
“When children come into contact with nature, they reveal their strength.”
